  
An Astrology & Astronomy Newsletter Aloha Fellow Lovers of the Night Sky and Happy New Moon So much going on in the ethers. Seems like a good time to resurrect the Newsletter for this moment in cosmic time. In the spirit of Community, this special edition is available for anyone ready to learn more. "What in the world is going on?" is a common question asked of me these days. The short answer is "a lot".
The longer answer...we are in a time of accelerated change unlike anything seen in recorded history on this Planet. My coined term is "Global Acceleration". Use it if you like...spread the word to others. Everything continues to speed up, as well as "heat up" (friction creates heat). "Global Warming" is one of the symptoms, but certainly not the source or cause. For that, we can look to our Sun, which just happens to be starting an eleven year "maximum" cycle, reaching its most potent intensity in (you guessed it) 2012.
Last year, Scientists refined their estimates for this current cycle, saying they expect the Sun to be much more active than originally anticipated, and at least 30 to 50 percent more active than the last cycle. Amazing to me, since we are coming out of a Solar Minimum cycle, which set records for Solar flare intensity and magnitude.
Same forumla with a Starman touch The Earth's vibrational field is amplifying/accelerating on all levels. In the past two weeks alone, X-rays coming off the Sun surface have been extremely high compared to the norm. Feeling a bit agitated or tired lately? Look no further than the Sun. Higher solar content can affect the body energy systems in ways not completely understood or appreciated. If you want to keep track of daily solar activity, you can do so at the SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) site. On a broader scale, today's computer systems (dual core 2 processors), communications via cell phones, text messaging, video or pod casts, or better yet, the children now being born are good examples of the accleration occurring in our Culture. "As above, so below". Unprecedented in its scope and magnitude. To me, this acceleration represents the run-up to 2012 and beyond for all 6 Billion plus sentient beings on this Planet. To create a framework of understanding for current Astrological events amplified by this acceleration, I've prepared the following explanations to describe the next passage of Pluto across Galactic Center on July 17, the current New Moon cycle, and the coming Venus Retrograde at the end of this month.
This Month's Significant Astrological Cycles: The above image of an irregular galaxy, (when the linked site opens, click on the image to apreciate a full-size version) some 12,000,000 light years away (sometimes I like to show all the digits to emphasize the concept of "vast") recorded by the Hubble Space Telescope, defines the word "creation". The bright areas represent star nurseries, many, many times the size of our Solar system, filled with the brilliant light of new Suns and their attendant planets. Great imagery for this creative New Moon period. Two astrological events make this particular New Moon period significant: First, Pluto now passes for the second time over the Galactic Center position in the sky - exact date is the 17th, but currently well within orb. Second, on this New Moon date, Venus moves into the sacred ritual sign of Virgo, as she begins preparing for a retrograde starting July 25th. Let's start with Pluto. In the February, 2006 Starman Update, I first wrote about the importance of Pluto passing in front of Galactic Center. Here it is again: " Pluto in its 13 year journey through the sign of Sagittarius recently moved into the last five degrees of the Archer. Over the next 2 years, it will be positioned close or in front of Galactic Center. Remember, Pluto metaphorically is about powerful transformation. Its current external position serves as a potent reminder of the strong shifts now taking place in the consciousness, and what is to come both in Spirituality (Sagittarius), and in the realm of rules and finances (Capricorn). Combining "galactic center awareness" and Pluto energy is an infrequent occurrence. The last time these two created an intense meeting was in 1970-72 when Pluto moved into the last degrees of Virgo (rituals), creating a square or 90 degree angular relationship with Galactic Center. At that time the Vietnam war was intensifying (war is a form of barbaric ritual), people were walking on the Moon, pollution on Earth became a planet-wide issue (Earth Day), nuclear power (how Pluto-like can you get?) was the coming "energy" of choice, and huge changes swept through the western culture in matters of religious practices and rituals, e.g. Catholicism.
Pluto moved into Sagittarius in 1995. Applying these characteristics to the Sagittarian themes of fundamentalism and spirituality underscores Pluto's transformative effect on the consciousness and culture. For example, the Middle East and the Christian fundamentalist movement have been "hot spots" of awareness and polarity over the past 11 years. Add the "galactic-center" to this mix and the potential exists for significant, world-changing events over the next two years in the areas of religion, spirituality, and energy (nuclear issues). From the Starman's perspective, the current alignment with Galactic Center is quite significant. This may be a time to expand or elevate (upgrade) your perspective about what serves you spiritually (Sagittarius), especially in your life choices for the twenty-first century. One suggestion - read Olaf Stapledon's ground breaking book Star Maker. Written in 1937, this visionary, epic book is about a Galactic Journey beyond the conventional notion of what could possibly be real. Arthur Clarke, the renowned science-fiction writer, said this about the book: "Probably the most powerful work of imagination ever written." A novel written 70 years ago mirroring our current state of awareness and shifts is definitely something to consider. Pluto makes its last of three passes across Galactic Center on October 29. Then, approximately 3 months later (late January), Pluto moves into the sign of Capricorn for the first time since 1762 (at that time, a groundswell of revolution against England was beginning in the American colonies). Capricorn represents the structure of our rules, laws and the very foundation/fabric of financial structure, commerce and wealth distribution. Pluto remains in Capricorn, except for a 6 month period later in 2008, for the next 15 years. Of note: Pluto first crossed Galactic Center on December 30th, the day Saddam Hussain was hung in Iraq - amazing timing. Since that time, Iraq has been a lightening rod for political, social, and religious unrest around the globe. This critical tension is further intensified around the Globe by rising fuel prices and pressure to curb greenhouse emissions. My how the Pluto vibration can stir the Sagittarian pot. The bright side of this equation or the counterpoint in this polarity points to the potent Plutonian energy available for raising awareness and consciousness individually and on the world stage. As I've shared in the past, raising your inner vibration on a cellular level gives you access to this energy, plus facilitates the integration on other levels of your body's bio-fields.
In general, seems like these Global events are becoming more frequent...e.g. last week's 7/07/07 multi-city concert events. To me these are indicators of the evolving "Global Brain". Whether or not these types of events resonate with you, remember the fire is hot, no matter where you stand, or what you believe or dis-believe. We're all in this together, adapting or sucumbing to higher vibrations and frequencies pervading every aspect of Mother Earth. Remember too, the Galactic Center is the "heart" of our Galaxy. Here lies a massive black hole dissolving (very Plutonian) matter into singularity on a scale beyond anyone's comprehension. Metaphorically, the Pluto/Galactic Center timing presents an opportunity to transform our very essence into a higher form. There is no "operating manual" here. We are on creative auto-pilot in some ways; other ways following instinctive guidance. Whatever your choice or direction, take the time during this period to reflect on your beingness and how you would like to share it with others over the coming five years leading to 2012. Whew...enough of Pluto. On to the New Moon, which occurred today at 2:05 AM HST. As I mentioned, later today at 3:12 PM HST (6:12 PM in the Western US, 9:12 PM on the East Coast, 1:12 AM in England on the 15th, and 10:12 PM in Japan) Venus moves into Virgo setting the stage for the coming Venus Retrograde, commencing July 25th (more below). The zero point of any sign represents new beginnings, new intentions and powerful Aries type creative energy. Virgo brings us into the realm of "sacred work and ritual". Combined with a Cancer New Moon, which highlights issues involving your family and community, potent creative potential exists at this time to set in motion new direction and awareness in your immediate locality. Join with others over the next few day to celebrate this creative surge, allowing the power of synergy and inter-dependency to manifest new ideas and initiatives for creating a healthy quality of life that benefits all. Venus Retrograde
The Virgo feminine archetype represents honoring the sacred rituals and traditions of one's life-work. This essence observes the flow and patterns of life, honoring the sacred cycles that flow from season to season. By contrast, the Leo feminine archetype represents the core essence of the heart center - radical, radiant love. Hence, the feminine expression is fearless in her desire to expand one's capacity to love and be loved. Suggested questions for this cycle: How am I embodying the Divine Feminine in my sacred work? Are my heart's desires underlying my life intention being expressed? How can I expand my capacity to find new ways of falling in love with the greater rhythms and cycles of life? Am I honored and appreciated by those who know me? Particularly affected during this retrograde cycle is anyone with their natal Venus, Mars and/or Moon positions in the signs of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius between 0 degrees and 2 degrees. Also, those with similar aspects in Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, and Taurus between 16 and 29 degrees. Planetary interactions: In addition to the Sun and Moon movements, Venus forms associations with Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Mars and Mercury at various times throughout this Retrograde. This is going to be a very interesting period on the world stage, as nations come to grips with their cultural and sacred traditions versus a quickening of the Planet's vibratory field. Some of the more significant encounters include: August 9 - 23, Venus conjunct Saturn, trine Pluto - expect realignment/reorganization energies to be quite present these days, especially focusing on issues around repression, lack of freedom vs. heart's desire and intention. There could be a reintensification or escallation in the Middle East. During this time, Saturn makes its final pass in Leo until August 2034. On September 3rd, Saturn moves into Virgo, where it remains for the next 30 or so months. August 23 - September 9 - Venus oppose Neptune, Quincunx Uranus - This period is ripe for visioning. The fully eclipsed Pisces Full Moon on the 28th at 4 degrees, near the opposition point where this Venus retrograde began, acts as a crimson spotlight, bringing focus on your Life Vision questions (Neptune). Because of the surprise nature of Uranus, expect the unexpected during this time. Pay attention to new interests and friends as you focus more and more on just what exactly makes your heart sing.
